The super-soft wool Genevieve has selected for the Leven is locally sourced and spun by a celebrated Aberdeenshire mill. The secret to its luxurious handle is the fact it comes from the ‘first clip’ of the lamb – an initial shear known for its unrivalled softness. Finer and more expensive, it produces a garment of exceptionally high quality without compromising on its authentic Shetland character.

Once knitted, it’s then brushed using the teasel thistle – a rarely-used specialist technique that further enhances the sumptuously soft hand-feel. Completely natural and highly effective, the teasel thistle has for centuries been used to brush and soften yarn. By elongating the fibres, it not only creates a beautifully soft feel, but lends the wool a relaxed and subtly felted quality that no man-made brush could match.

The buttons are made from Corozo – a completely natural and biodegradable product derived from the nuts of the Tagua Palm. This amazing tree grows in the rainforests of Central America and produces nuts without any need for human harvesting.
The unique button colours are created with eco-friendly dyes that are Oeko-tex standard 100 and AZO free certified.d, it’s such a valuable crop that the forests where it grows are being actively preserved.
