Lightweight, fresh and textural — the Ver lace collection is rooted in the colours of the British countryside and the beauty found in the space between stitches.

A Scattering of Wildflowers, Caught in Yarn
It began with a bale of silk neps in a Yorkshire mill.
I was visiting my yarn spinner in Denby Dale when I spotted something unexpected and asked to see the new yarn they were spinning from it. When I saw it, I instantly saw the scattering of spring blossom along a hedgerow, a flurry of wildflowers across a meadow, the subtle colour fleck of the British countryside caught in a yarn.
That Yorkshire-spun lambswool silk became the foundation of Ver. Soft against the skin, alive with colour and movement — a yarn that captures the lightness of spring and carries it gently into summer.

The Inspiration: The Missing Stitch
Ver began with the thought that absence can create structure.
In lace knitwear, it is often what is removed that defines the final form and texture. I found myself drawn to the missing stitch: the importance of space, of openness, of what happens in the space in between. I began with sketches of leaves I collected on a walk, exploring connections within space, before turning to my hand-knitting to translate the idea into form.
Programming lace, as I quickly discovered, is far harder than it looks. It took many attempts to achieve the broken repeat I had envisioned. I took to hand knitting as I could translate my ideas into stitches with more fluidity than on the knitting machine until the balance felt right.

Lace is one of the slowest knitting processes there is. In a single row, the machine must transfer, rack, knit and miss, a complex sequence of movements that cannot be rushed. The Ver V-neck takes three times as long to knit as a plain jumper. That slowness is not a limitation. It is where the value lives.

Yorkshire-Spun Lambswool Silk: The Heart of Ver
At the heart of the Ver collection is a carefully selected Yorkshire-spun lambswool silk yarn. Naturally breathable and lightweight, it is soft against the skin and rich in tone, with subtle colour variations inspired by wildflowers and blossom in bloom.
The silk brings a natural drape and elegance to the yarn, refined without being fussy. It allows the lace structure to open beautifully, creating texture, movement and depth. The Ver crew neck is the perfect sweater for those British spring days when the weather hasn't quite made up its mind, and the kind of piece you reach for in warmer months and never want to take off.

The V-neck sits just as naturally — elegant enough for day to night, relaxed enough for real life. Both styles layer beautifully over a T-shirt or blouse, and move effortlessly from coastal weekends and summer festivals to garden evenings and early autumn days.
How to Wear the Ver Knitted Vest: From Beach to Festival
Ver is created for the way women actually dress in summer — effortlessly, intuitively, across occasions.
The knitted vest is the breakout piece of the collection. Designed in a lightweight, feminine sleeveless silhouette, it is as at home layered over a swimsuit on the beach as it is thrown over a slip dress at a festival, or worn beneath a favourite GS cardigan on a cooler evening. The open lace structure ensures it never feels too warm, while the Yorkshire-spun silk gives it a quiet luxury that lifts every outfit.
Breathable, versatile, and completely considered — Ver is lightweight knitwear designed for real summer life.

Made in Our Hertfordshire Micro-Factory
The Ver collection marks a significant milestone for me.
For the first time, we have knitted and hand-linked an entire lace collection in-house at our Hertfordshire micro-factory. Every piece is made in small batches — beginning with preorders so that the sizes and colours I produce are exactly what our customers want — and hand-linked stitch by stitch, entirely in the UK with our first apprentice.
This approach gives me complete control over quality, reduces waste, and keeps me closely connected to every stage of the making process. But it is about more than that. It is about the future of British knitwear manufacturing, preserving heritage skills, passing them to the next generation, and showing that luxury knitwear made in Britain is not just possible, but worth seeking out.
