All About Our Limited Edition Triangle Scarf

If you keep up with all the GS news here, on my Instagram and via my newsletter, you’ll know there are exciting changes afoot. I’m now the very proud and utterly delighted owner of my very own industrial knitting machine, which is going to be a big part of my business going forward.

I will steadily be launching limited edition designs, made entirely in-house on my new machine – the first of which is my three stitch triangular scarf, available in three beautiful colours of the finest lambswool (bright red, stormy blue and pearl). I’m proud to proclaim that this scarf was designed, developed and manufactured completely in-house; the first of many designs to come!

I envisioned the triangle scarf to be a statement piece for your capsule wardrobe, adding a pop of colour and/or interest to your outfit in a simple yet charming way. Crafted from end-of-line yarn to reduce waste, it’s a true testament to both modern British craftsmanship and how you can use repurposed yarn to create beautiful garments. Fully fashioned at the sides, it’s a simple design yet has a complex pattern with a large triangle shape combined with a beautifully detailed texture of moss stitch, rib and knit.

I really threw myself in at the deep end when designing this scarf, because that is how I love to learn! I dedicated several weeks to learning how to programme my new machine, but hadn’t chosen the easiest design to start with. I really wanted to understand the intricacies of the machine, so began with a technically challenging and complex pattern that allowed for plenty of trial and error. Hence, long hard days where I knew I was onto something good, but had to fiddle around a lot before I achieved what I had in my head. I found so much joy in this process, and couldn’t stop thinking about what I was designing when I was out of work – I found myself constantly desperate to return to my studio to continue working on it. It kept me awake at night, because my brain was just buzzing with ideas!

All that hard work and the long hours paid off, and I’m thrilled that the scarf is now available for pre-order online (yet another way to reduce waste, as I’ll be making them to order). Wondering how to style it? I find a knitted triangle scarf to be such a versatile accessory that can instantly add panache to an otherwise simple outfit while remaining a timeless, classic wardrobe staple. Here are a few suggestions for how to style:

-       Wear now knotted loosely around your neck with a white t-shirt, to add a burst of colour and interest to your summer outfit.

-       Style with your favourite cardigan for a finishing flourish.

-       Introduce to autumn and spring layering, wearing with a finely knitted sweater and allowing the scarf to peek out from the neck of your coat.

-       Fold the scarf and tuck into the neckline of a coat or sweater for a more formal look.

-       Pair with a chunkier knit for a fun twist to an otherwise simple style.

-       Wear with a denim or cotton shirt, either tied loosely over the collar or undo the top couple of buttons and tuck in the scarf.
