Walking is one of the simplest and most restorative ways to care for both body and mind. It strengthens the heart and bones, supports overall wellbeing, boosts immunity and offers space to pause, breathe and reconnect with the world around us. Beyond the physical benefits, walking brings calm, clarity and perspective.
Last September, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jess and Charlie, founders of The Travel Project and now authors of Achievable Adventures. After spending a year travelling and walking extensively, they returned with a deeper understanding of how profoundly movement and time outdoors had supported their physical and mental wellbeing. Their book is a gentle reminder that adventure does not need to be dramatic or distant. Walking adventures can be as simple as placing one foot in front of the other. A local stroll, a weekend wander or a longer hike can all clear the mind, lift the mood and strengthen our connection to nature.

As a family, we love to walk and there are so many amazing places to explore here in the UK.
Our family favourite places to walk:
The Lake District
Some personal favourites are Scafell Pike in the Lake District. It’s the children’s favourite walk with one of the best picnic spots. We tried Helvellyn last year but sadly the weather took a turn so we ended up in Keswick eating ice cream – it could have been worse!
Brecon Beacons
My children have been walking the Brecon Beacons since they were just two. It is slow, but deeply rewarding to witness their confidence and sense of achievement grow with each step.
Coastal Walks
Along the coast, Norfolk holds a special place for us, particularly watching the seals, a truly memorable sight. This year, on the bucket list is fossil hunting on the Jurassic coast, exploring the Scottish Highlands and Skye and finding Ancient Oaks on Dartmoor.
Comfort is key:
Wherever you choose to walk this year, few things distract from the experience more quickly than aching feet, slipping heels or sore toes. Comfort is essential if you want to truly enjoy the journey, and that is exactly what we keep in mind when designing our luxury walking socks.
Our range of soft merino wool and breathable cotton blend walking socks are crafted with care to offer warmth, comfort and a touch of everyday luxury. From the moment you pull on a pair, your feet will feel snug and supported. Cushioned without feeling bulky. Our walking socks are designed to hug your feet in all the right places.
One of the biggest joys of these great walking socks is comfort that lasts. Long walks demand more than softness; they need support. Thoughtfully designed to help reduce fatigue, the construction of our walking socks helps reduce fatigue and aches and pains so you can stay present with your surroundings rather than counting the steps until your next rest.
Just perfect whether you’re hiking the rugged trails of a coastal path, exploring the mountains and ambling through the beautiful countryside, or more gentle local walks.
So if this year you are investing in you and your health with better walks, more steps, more fresh air and more moments of calm, don’t overlook your socks! A good pair of socks doesn’t just protect your feet; it supports the experience of walking itself. With comfortable footwear and thoughtfully crafted socks, even a short daily walk can feel restorative.
Let’s all take small, meaningful steps towards feeling better each and every day this year. And as you place one thoughtfully socked foot in front of the other, make sure you’re wearing socks designed and crafted to cushion every step, keeping your feet comfortable, protected and ready for adventure.
Whether your journey is near or far, we would love to see where your walking socks wander. Please do tag us in your photographs.
