As we step into the New Year, we often seek to set resolutions. However, more people are choosing to move away from the pressure of traditional resolutions such as all-or-nothing gym commitments, restrictive “no chocolate” rules, or unrealistic lifestyle overhauls.
Instead, 2026 is the year of gentler intentions. A year of tuning into your body, listening to your needs, and prioritising physical and mental wellbeing over set, rigid goals.
I call it wintering, it's still dark outside, we need to nest, to recover, to reconnect - eating well, hearty food that feeds. I love the fresh start a new year brings but its more the intensions setting then strict changes
A year of mindful living; morning rituals, outdoor moments, creative hobbies, cosy comforts, and sustainable choice to create a deeper, more nourishing foundation for development and change.
And, when such resolutions shift from strict to gentle, wellness becomes something more natural, rather than a battle to maintain.
So as we step into a fresh new year, let’s slow down, reset, and reconnect - with ourselves, with nature, and with the choices we make every day. Here at Genevieve Sweeney, we’re all for embracing resolutions that feel good and do good.
Getting Outside: Nature-Ready Socks & Scarves
If your New Year goal is to spend more time outdoors, whether that’s tending to the garden, enjoying mindful moments in the fresh air, or heading out for winter walks then your essentials should feel grounding, warm, and comforting.
Our soft, breathable socks, knitted in natural fibres, offer warmth and durability for every cold-weather stroll, or frosty morning in the garden. Pair them with an oversized blanket scarf that will wrap you in warmth as you step outside to reconnect with the world around you. And perhaps add your favourite wool beanie to keep the winter chill at bay.
These small outdoor moments; warm layers, crisp air, steady steps, are the rituals that reset the mind.

Creating Cosy Rituals: Morning & Evening Wellbeing
A slow morning stretch, a quiet cup of tea before the day begins, or a calming evening wind-down routine. These gentle rituals act as anchors throughout the day.
Soft, comfortable clothing made for yoga, meditation, or your daily mindfulness routines can deepen your practice. A warm scarf, such as our unique oversized blanket scarf wrapped around your shoulders for a sunrise journaling session, or cushioned socks to ground you during evening stretches, adds ease and softness to your wellbeing.
Comfort encourages consistency, and consistency will turn your resolution into a lifestyle.

Starting New Creative Hobbies: Knitting, Sewing & Making
For many, the New Year is the perfect moment to begin a new hobby. Choose something grounding, creative, and calming as the perfect way to find purpose and joy in these winter months.
Knitting, sewing, and other handcrafts are rising as mindful practices that help people unwind, reduce screen time, and reconnect with the satisfaction of making something with their own hands.
Choosing high-quality, sustainable yarns and responsibly sourced fabrics not only elevates the making process but also supports an intention to shop more consciously. These slow-making hobbies encourage presence, patience, and a deeper appreciation for the pieces you create. Made by you, for you.
A sentiment echoed at Genevieve Sweeney, where we are committed to preserving and revitalising this corner of the fashion industry. Working with hand-selected mills and factories around the UK, we are driving British manufacturing forward by embracing innovation whilst also celebrating tradition; keeping time-honoured craftsmanship relevant and capturing the beautiful, refined touch of the artisan. The signature yarn blends evoke a unique and contemporary mood, while limited batches promise unrivalled originality, lasting quality and attention to detail.
Crafting, whether on a large or small scale, is a way to nourish creativity and ground yourself in the moment.

Choosing to Shop More Sustainably in 2026
Many people are entering the New Year with a commitment to shop more sustainably and consciously. Choosing products made from responsible fibres, supporting ethically minded makers, and investing in pieces designed to last is one of the most meaningful resolutions you can make.
When you purchase products from us you can be sure of a commitment to heritage and locality. In fact it is woven into every thread of our knitwear. And, our pieces support slow fashion designed and made to look and feel beautiful for years to come.
It’s about choosing products that respect the planet, support fair work, and feel good to wear every single day for the long term.
Small Resolutions - Big Impact
Your resolutions don’t need to be grand to be transformative. Sometimes, it’s the smallest habits that create the biggest shift: simply stepping outside more often, carving out space for calming rituals, starting a new creative hobby, or just choosing products that align with more sustainable values.
In 2026, I am making time for me.. As a founder, business owner, mum of two I am at the bottom of the list - even if I could put myself half way on the list to move my body, to take time for more walks, to read, more time in the garden and time to just be. I am not good at taking time off of work, so this is an important intention.
This year I want to put my creativity at the top of the list - days out to inspire, a couple of nights away on my own to tune into my work without the day to day.
As a family we are looking to do more adventures, walking, day trips…time together as work and school gets so busy.
