Now that we’re no longer in a stifling hot heatwave, we’re once again reaching for warmer garments when night falls and the temperatures drop. Whether you’re enjoying a couple of al fresco drinks at your local pub, dining al fresco, or you’re on holiday by the sea where there’s a cool breeze on evening walks, here are five styling suggestions for how to quickly add a knitted layer to your summer outfits.
Textured Merino Wool Blanket Scarf
Our new textured blanket scarf is the ideal piece to keep on hand over the summer months, packing in your hand luggage when you go away and keeping it draped over the back of your favourite armchair at home. This oversized scarf is spun from the finest merino wool, featuring a beautifully crafted geometric textured pattern that really shows off the detail of the yarn. When I’m travelling somewhere hot, I take this with me on flights to drape as a blanket. It can then function as a picnic blanket, or you can wrap it around your shoulders when going out for dinner at night. I’ve also worn mine as a wrap at a summer wedding or when sitting around a firepit when camping.
Aria Knitted Vest Viscose Jacquard
I love wearing my Aria knitted vest all year round, but it really stands out as a beloved piece in my summer wardrobe. Crafted from regenerative and FSC viscose, it is designed with a simple silhouette suitable for dressing up or down. I love to throw it on over a bikini top and pair of denim shorts on holiday, for an instant beach-bar-ready look. You can also easily dress it up for a summer evening event by pairing it with a long silk skirt or a pair of loosely tailored linen trousers. Or pair with the matching Aria skirt for a more statement look.
Ash lambswool slouch Sweater
For a jumper or cardigan, lambswool is always my material of choice for summer dressing. Lambswool is magical; it keeps you warm in cool temperatures but also regulates your body temperature in hotter climates. The Ash sweater boasts a contemporary slouch relaxed silhouette that is ideal for layering. You can effortlessly throw on this sweater on a chilly evening with everything from a pair of battered denim shorts to your favourite summer dress. I’ll be packing this for every camping trip I have planned this summer, but also grabbing it on the way out of the door for dinner out with friends.
Lenzie Brushed Wool Cardigan
This versatile brushed wool cardigan has an ever-so-slightly boxed, cropped fit which makes it perfect for layering. The new bright red colour is perfect for summer evenings, adding a welcome punch of vibrant colour to your look. I find cardigans to be one of my summer staples, as they’re just so easy to throw on over absolutely anything and you can regulate your temperature by buttoning them up, leaving them unbuttoned or wearing them oversized and slouchy, draped off your shoulders. The softness and warmth of this cardigan is much welcomed after a refreshing wild swim or if you’re visiting somewhere a little cooler, such as Scotland this summer.
Lambswool Triangle Scarf
Heading somewhere hot where you can’t bear the thought of packing a cardigan or sweater? Our new triangle scarf is going to be my go-to for heatwaves or Mediterranean summers, where I want to add interest to my outfit without sweating. The large triangle shape is combined with a moss stitch, rib and knit texture for a beautifully designed scarf that adds a punch of colour and texture to your outfit. I love wearing mine over a white t-shirt with a pair of shorts, but it can also add interest to a simple summer dress.
